I really enjoyed viewing Part 2 of "The Mirco-Lite DXpedition" video titled "VP8GEO South Georgia 2002" over the past weekend. James has once again shown his talents in filming and writing this latest video. As with his past videos, this is another ***** (five) star presentation showing the beauty and history of the islands. Granted this is a ham radio video, but this video and narration can pass as a PBS program. Naturally, the video does show the Mirco-lite team setting up antennas and operating as VP8GEO. The video also includes personal interviews from the members of the Mirco-lite team. However, the main thing I noticed on this video compared to the others is the team's working relationship, not just between the Micro-Lite team, but with the crew of the Braveheart and the locals on the island. Between the operating, making friends on the island and helping free a seal from a fishing net around its neck, this video was truly enlightening to watch. It is must for anyone who collects DX videos.

Watched parts one and two of the "Micro Lite DXpeditions" on DVD yesterday. This is the first time I have seen any of the James Brooks, 9V1YC, DXpedition videos. They were phenomenal. The quality, narration and photography are top notch. These videos go through not only the DXpedition, but some very interesting history of the islands. [VP8GEO and VP8THU]. The two videos would make a great addition to your DX media library or
a Christmas gift for you DX friends. There are also numerous pileup sequences and in-depth interviews with the team members discussing the rather unique philosophy behind this trip."- Bernie, W3UR (Editor, The Daily DX)
James Brooks 9V1YC does it again with his great video of VP8GEO. This was the second of the two DX hot spots the “microlite” DXpedition went to earlier this year. His video of Thule, VP8THU impressed me with the stark coldness of the island and the extreme conditions the group endured. This video of South Georgia tells the story of a beautiful Island polluted by the six derelict whaling stations and the whaling industry earlier last century. This is a great effort by a team of very experienced DXers to put a rare DXCC entity on the air and bring some of the excitement back into DXing.
Light equipment and small antennas combined with some of the world’s best DXpedtioners insured that VP8GEO and VP8THU made it into thousands of logs. The wonderful scenic photography combined with some brilliantly informed narration by the DXpeditioners makes for 45 minutes of fascinating watching. You actually feel like you are there with them at the old Husvik whaling station and on the “Braveheart” slogging through some very heavy Southern Ocean weather.- Lee, ZL2AL
Had the pleasure of viewing the VP8GEO video for the first time this afternoon. I have to comment that you have once again out done yourself.
What a fantastic job you have done on this project. Your work combines aspects of ham radio, adventure travel, history and geography.
The music and videography are breathtaking. You really understand the medium of video and keep the viewer on multi-path
experience. I think you capture the essence of the DXpedition experience. A perfect armchair adventure. And I get to sleep in my bed each night to
boot! I will never get to South Georgia or the other places you have chronicled, but I have been there vicariously via your work. (BTW Thank you for showing me Shackleton's Gravesite.) Congratulations on another fine effort, perhaps your best to date. Thanks for taking me to a place I always wanted to visit, South Georgia Island. And I didn't even leave my house! - Dave N1LQ
