Really outdid yourself this time! Just finished watching the video again with my wife and her sister. Neither of them are hams, but both were VERY impressed with the quality and content....obviously they were more interested in the native people and scenery than in the radio portions, but even that received a number of positive comments. This from two women who really don't give a hoot about ham radio - HI. Anyone who sees this would surely buy it. My compliments again and again for a job WELL DONE!! - Carl, N4AA (QRZ DX & The DX Magazine)
James, 9V1YC, has done it again! I have just viewed the A52A video over the past weekend and I would have to say James has made another "**** Four Star Video". This high quality enlightening and educational video is a must for DXers. In James' video (as in all his videos) he mixes the sites and sounds of Bhutan which are breathtaking. OH YEA, the bus trip to the Pine Wood Hotel was great! Strap on your seat belts FOLKS! I personallly would like to thank James for the ride and view of Bhutan. - Tedd, KB8NW (Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin)
I just watched the A52A DXpedition video, written and directed by James Brooks 9V1YC. The video tells a great story of a DXpedtion put together in two weeks by Glenn Johnson W0GJ and brings the history and beauty of Bhutan alive. It's an hour long and sure beats a re-run of anything you watch on the goggle box lately. The narration, interviews and photography gives you a great insight into the problems of a big DXpedition, both from the logistics and operational point of view. Excellent shots of operators in pileups interspersed with the beauty and landscape of Bhutan make it well worth getting. Erecting a Titanex Vertical on a hillside is mind boggling! Like his other videos of ZL9CI and FO0AAA, James 9V1YC remains elusive and is nowhere to be seen. The viewer often wonders "does he exist"? But in this video, he leaves a tantalizing clue that he actually does exist, when he films Mark Johnson, Glenn's son running pileups. James shadow and camera appear in silhouette on the back of Mark's shirt. Its a great video, well worth buying as are his other works. - Lee, ZL2AL
Let me say, that the quality of your videos is outstanding. I.e.. the filming, the content, the commentary and production. They are professional and come over like an interesting "Discovery" channel documentary. The "non-amateur" radio information is interesting and provides a fascinating link between the location and the amateur radio activity. You obviously did a lot of background research. A video showing continuous amateur radio activity would be boring even to a radio ham. I have always been interested in mountaineering, and used to read the books by Chris Bonnington, a leading UK mountaineer on conquests in the Himalaya etc. . He once said that it was a difficult thing during an expedition to record and photograph everything you did, and it was tempting to forget it when you were making a strenuous bid for the summit etc, but if you did that, the expedition would be lost for ever. I'm afraid I've done that on most of my DXpeditions. I have concentrated on the logistics, the licensing, and the operating, and sometimes not even taken a camera. Some of the DXpeditions I have participated in would have provided material for you which would have surpassed the ones I've seen, but they are now lost. So, it is with sincerity that I thank you for recording, for history, in a most professional way, the best videos I've ever seen in the hobby. - Ray, HS0/G3NOM
